Python is a very different area, and is super-required for the huge libraries they have for Data Science and ML.

But, as you said, SQL scripting is fast and absolutely required for most cursor-based operations on SQL.

Their main engine is SQL, and any high-level programming language is actually calling the SQL REST API :)
